According to Kalmer Tikerpe, the chief law enforcement officer of the PPA Prevention and Criminal Procedure Office, cameras with a telephoto lens are currently in use in Estonia, and officers have also received appropriate training in their use. “In this sense, we have enough equipment and capacity to fix these violations,” he added.

Also this year, the maximum permitted speed limit will be increased only on four-lane highways with separate driving directions, on two-lane roads the maximum permitted speed will remain 90 km/h.
“If the driver sees that the traffic conditions do not allow driving at 110 km/h, he must reduce the speed. Especially since it is only the beginning of April and the roads can be slippery at night and in the morning for some time,” said E. Ernits, head of the traffic safety department.
The speed limit will be increased on five sections of the Tallinn-Narva highway Tallinn-Aaspere (110 km/h), at the Haljala traffic junction (110 km/h) and on the Kohtla-Järve-Jõhvi section (110 km/h). On the Tallinn–Tartu–Võru–Luhamaa road, the speed limit will be increased on two sections: Tallinn–Kose (110 km/h), Mäo bypass (110 km/h) and Tartu–Ülenurme (100 km/h). On the Tallinn–Pärnu–Ikla highway, the speed limit will be increased on the two sub-sections Tallinn–Ääsmäe (110 km/h). Also this year, the speed limit on the Tallinn ring road on the Jüri–Luige section will be increased (110 km/h).
Jaan Tarmak, head of the traffic management department of the National Road Administration, said that on all 2+2 road sections, the speed cannot be increased due to road safety considerations, and on these sections you have to drive at 90 km/h.
